The Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) will have a new CEO, in June, after the present CEO, Matt Unger, retires. Kathy Underhill will be taking that position. She has spent over 20 years working on hunger. She is, presently, overseeing nine federal nutrition programs for the state of Colorado managing 80 million dollars in American grown food. Kathy founded HUNGER FREE COLORADO, serving as founding CEO of the state's leading anti-hunger organization. She has a Master's in Social Work. Kathy has received honors including the Share Our Strength Innovator Award and being named Top Thinker for nonprofits by the Denver Post Editorial Board.
HOW TO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT: The Cubs games are now in progress. If you take 3 nonperishable food items to the DMARC booth there, you can get a free general admission ticket. Our Farmer's Market has started. You are invited to bring baked goods and houseplants until the garden produce begins.
HOW OUR CONGREGATION CAN HELP; DMARC PREFERS MONEY!! DMARC can buy 2 to 6 times more with our money than we can ($10=9meals). If you wish to help, please check out the church's VANCO giving app or you may WRITE A CHECK (DMARC in memo) out to Polk City United Methodist Church, 1421 West Broadway, Polk City, Iowa 50226 ATTN Finance Secretary or PLACE IN THE OFFERING PLATE.
For volunteering and donation of vehicles, please check out DMARC
